Martha's Red Mittens

My friend, Martha, loves RED. I knitted these from a pattern in Homespun Handknit: Caps, Socks, Mittens, and Gloves According to the pattern, the thumb is to be knitted in stockinette, but it was very simple to just continue the swirl up the thumb. I made the wrist a bit snugger by changing to a smaller needle for a few rows. These mittens are knitted out of Encore yarn in a nice, bright red.
